Belumut
After leaving Kem Kubang it was again another day of uphill treks. The whole trail was misty even though it was already 1100hrs when we got to Kem Belumut...Tahan's version of the mossy forest.
We were greeted by these pair of birds which apparently hang out at this spot waiting for hand outs. They are pretty tame coming up close to us and even posed for me. It was an interesting sight after an hour of tough trekking which is to get tougher as the ground became softer and muddier. Everything around us was filled with moss and i bet that if one stays at this spot long enough...moss would grow on you.

A moss laden tree and 'booby traps' for us to sink our feet in. Certain places can get one knee high in mud if one is not careful. So we tread very carefully and lightly. We have to learn to choose our path carefully. Kinda like life don't you think? One fuck up and you are stuck knee high in shit...in this case mud.
Our guides manouvering the course with ease in their adidas kampung. Along the whole trail is also laced with barbs from the rotan tree. They are on the ground and above our heads so grasping for things to support, we gotta be careful too.

Belumut is cooling and refreshing but we were to find out later that it is an energy sapping trail...getting stuck and unstuck. When tiredness sets in it awoke the Freudian side of me. I began to relate this experience to life. Life and it's many challenges...i began to think.
This is only day 3 and we are only a quarter of the way to Kem Botak.
