Ahmad's Twelve

Once all our back packs were inspected and checked we were driven in a four wheel drive to Rentis Gunung Tahan. Upon our arrival we had a quick brunch of mee goreng or nasi lemak bought from the little town in Merapoh.

We all had a drink of Sg. Relau at the waiting hut just at the edge of the forest. The water in Sg. Relau is a clear, brownish, cool and sweet to the throat. The water is so clear that one can see the famed kelah swimming to and fro. The kelah is kinda like the salmon of M'sia...if my knowledge serves me that is...otherwise it's just another freshwater fish. Just so you know.
Chalice of the Gods...lovely mushroom the size of a saucer. The Kelah is about one and a half foot long. Looks delicious no? Catch it and one will be slapped with a RM500 fine. See no touch...is the law here.

Here's a write up of the trek covered with distance and estimated time of trekking from camp to camp. It only covers the distance and map from Sg. Relau to Gunung Tahan. The Kuala Tahan bit is off the map...which was something we...Meow and i that is, did not notice. If it did show it probably would have freaked us out and we would have been on the four wheel drive out of here.

Nine of Ahmad's Twelve have been to Tahan more than thrice. It's like a yearly pilgrimage for them. Meow and I...we are Virgins!

Look at us! Virgins we are always smilling before the shit happens.
