Light at the End
This was the weekend right after we moved into our new place. Everything was still in a mess back home but we had pre-booked a date with The Kaleebso.
I was torn about going as there was just so much to do at home and yet here we were on the road driving 300 odd km through palm plantations and dark winding roads to Penyabong Jetty in Mersing. After driving about 4 hours plus we arrived at a dark and quiet little village at the edge of Mersing. I finally stepped out of the car to stretch my sore legs and numb bum. The familiar smell of the sea filled my lungs as i took a deep breath and stretched my limbs. In the distant i hear the yelling and cheering of the village people in a shack built to house a stall. There were a couple of people surrounding a 20inch television cheering on their favorite teams as Brasil & Nederlands play for a place in the last 8. I arrived to see Sneijder head in the winning goal in the closing minutes of the game. The World Cup infects all of us, near and far.
As the rest of the divers arrived at the jetty and were ready to board that i felt that this was perhaps the right thing to do even though there was much to be done at home. I never realised how stressed out i was in the moving and needed this break till i got on board the fishing trawler.
I took another deep breath as the salty sea air blew in my face as we sailed out to the awaiting Kaleebso.
