Bleedin' Hearts

One of my many favorite garden plants. Bleedin' Hearts is what it's called, of course the scientist have some fancy name which i don't care to know. I love how the red is infused into the white spotted green leaves.

Believe it or not this plant has been with me for a long, long time. Once it even died and no more leaves grew out of the pot. I was of course upset...but i did not cry for 3 days 3 nights. After cleaning out the old soil i kept its tiny yam like root, size of my thumb...not enough for a Fatt Thiew Cheong dish and replanted it in this rustic looking pot. Lo and behold about a week later a shoot started pushing its way out of the soil and blossomed into these tall leaves. It used to grow only a stalk at a time and wither just about the next stalk shoots out of the soil but of late it has kept growing and growing bo chup wether the earlier stalk is dead or not and as i write this blog shoot number 4 has popped up and there are 2 babies by the side too.

Hence i never throw out my old plants, even if they seem dead...they may just surprise you and pop out of the ground. Moral of the story...never give up on the One's you love, they may yet surprise you!

I also have a thing for this plant. Had it at home - it was thrown away by neighbours at our garden and out of nowhere, it just sprouted like nobody's biz.
